Congratulations to these five students (Lyla Smerling, Charlie Eastland, Micah Klos, Josh Kaunas and Jayden Jasper) who scored a 100% on the ACT pop quiz at the kick off event for our Zero Hour ACT Training Camp! Each student received a free Jersey Mike's sub. All Juniors will be meeting during Zero Hour over the next two weeks to prepare for the April 8th ACT.

University of Wisconsin/Whitewater is hosting a special campus visit on Saturday, March 7. The event is entirely in Spanish and includes admissions, academics, financial aid info, tour, free lunch and more. Registration is recommended.

Interested in a career in culinary and pastry management? MCC is having Taste and Tour: A Culinary Experience on April 8 from 6 to 8 pm. Meet MCC chefs and instructors, tour the kitchens and labs, and have a three-course dinner. Registration is required and there is a cost of $10.

There will be a Field Trip to tour the campus of McHenry County College on Wednesday, April 1st leaving about 9:30 am and returning to school around 12:45. The tour will include the main building(s) and the Foglia Center which fea­tures lab­o­ra­to­ries, as well as class­rooms and sup­port spaces for pro­grams in weld­ing, heat­ing and cool­ing sys­tems, indus­tri­al main­te­nance, engi­neer­ing tech­nol­o­gy, con­struc­tion man­age­ment, arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence, met­al­lur­gy, and metrology. Stop by the CCRC for a permission slip.

2026–2027 School Calendar Approved!

The Board of Education has approved the District’s 2026–2027 school calendar.

🗓 First Day of School: Monday, August 17, 2026
🗓 Last Day of School: Friday, May 21, 2027 (pending emergency days)

The approved calendar prioritizes increased full weeks of instruction, balanced quarters, beginning of year staff preparation, and alignment with surrounding McHenry County districts.

Juniors/Parents of Juniors: You can sign up for a One Click College Admit workshop through the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). Get information about the New Illinois One Click College Admit program.  The deadline to opt in is May 22, 2026.  It's an easy way to apply to certain colleges without application fees, essays and letters of recommendation.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) offers 2 - $5,000 scholarships to outstanding high school seniors. They will focus on academic performance, volunteer work/community service and extracurricular activities. Go to link for full details and application. The Chicago Coalition to End Homelessness (CCH) offers $4,000 scholarships, renewable through college, to at least 5 graduating seniors who experienced homelessness while in high school(living in a shelter, on the street, or doubled-up in someone else's home). Vaclavek Hartman Vaclavek offers a $750 and a $250 scholarship to help pay for school or supplies for school. You must be a McHenry County graduating senior and are/will be enrolled in a two to four-year institution in 2026. No minimum GPA required!
