All Juniors will report to the auditorium for Zero Hour on Monday, March 2 to begin the ACT Training Camp. ALL JUNIORS need to attend regardless of Honor Code.

Interested in a career in culinary and pastry management? MCC is having Taste and Tour: A Culinary Experience on April 8 from 6 to 8 pm. Meet MCC chefs and instructors, tour the kitchens and labs, and have a three-course dinner. Registration is required and there is a cost of $10.

There will be a Field Trip to tour the campus of McHenry County College on Wednesday, April 1st leaving about 9:30 am and returning to school around 12:45. The tour will include the main building(s) and the Foglia Center which fea­tures lab­o­ra­to­ries, as well as class­rooms and sup­port spaces for pro­grams in weld­ing, heat­ing and cool­ing sys­tems, indus­tri­al main­te­nance, engi­neer­ing tech­nol­o­gy, con­struc­tion man­age­ment, arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence, met­al­lur­gy, and metrology. Stop by the CCRC for a permission slip.

2026–2027 School Calendar Approved!

The Board of Education has approved the District’s 2026–2027 school calendar.

🗓 First Day of School: Monday, August 17, 2026
🗓 Last Day of School: Friday, May 21, 2027 (pending emergency days)

The approved calendar prioritizes increased full weeks of instruction, balanced quarters, beginning of year staff preparation, and alignment with surrounding McHenry County districts.

JHS Girls Basketball Sectional Game on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 6 pm versus St. Edwards. IHSA requires a $9 entry fee for EVERYONE. First 50 JHS students with get in FREE with their student ID again!! Thank you!

Juniors/Parents of Juniors: You can sign up for a One Click College Admit workshop through the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). Get information about the New Illinois One Click College Admit program.  The deadline to opt in is May 22, 2026.  It's an easy way to apply to certain colleges without application fees, essays and letters of recommendation.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) offers 2 - $5,000 scholarships to outstanding high school seniors. They will focus on academic performance, volunteer work/community service and extracurricular activities. Go to link for full details and application. The Chicago Coalition to End Homelessness (CCH) offers $4,000 scholarships, renewable through college, to at least 5 graduating seniors who experienced homelessness while in high school(living in a shelter, on the street, or doubled-up in someone else's home). Vaclavek Hartman Vaclavek offers a $750 and a $250 scholarship to help pay for school or supplies for school. You must be a McHenry County graduating senior and are/will be enrolled in a two to four-year institution in 2026. No minimum GPA required!

The School of Pharmacy at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is hosting a Summer Pharmacy Camp for high school students interested in health sciences and healthcare careers. The camp is FREE but space is limited.

The Dare to Dream Scholarship is for high school seniors with developmental disabilities (must have a recognized developmental disability which includes conditions that affect physical, learning, language, or behavioral abilities) and is open to any that are within any McHenry County, IL school district. There is also the Sibling Unity Scholarship is for graduating seniors who have a sibling with a developmental disability. Criteria also at link.

Several $1,000 scholarships are awarded from the Illinois Bankers Scholarship and the Linda J. Koch Scholarship funds. Students should be seeking a financial industry-related field. The McHenry County Farm Bureau Foundation offers the John W. Hoffman Memorial Scholarship of $1,000 for the next generation of farmers or tradesmen and the MCFB Foundation Agriculture Scholarship of $1,500 for students pursuing continuing education in agriculture or agriculture-related fields.
