Johnsburg High School Food Service

Johnsburg High School is pleased to offer a nutritionally sound lunch for students to purchase on all school days that lunch is served. Our menus are posted electronically and contain nutritional information for each day.  Electronic Menus may be found on this page.

Adding Money to a Students Lunch Account

You can now easily make deposits to your family's lunch account (all children in the same family use the same lunch account). Simply log into Skyward Family Access with your user name and password.

Please remember too that the minimum amount of an online credit card transaction is $10.

You can also continue to make deposits into your child's account by bringing a payment to school or calling (815) 900-3011 with your credit card info.

Food Service Limits

Parents have the opportunity to establish a daily food service limit for each one of their children. This amount can be limited to $3.55, which is the amount of a single student lunch, or another amount as requested. Parents establish their limit as part of the annual online registration process, however, it can be changed at any time. Simply e-mail Mrs. Anna Wolk with the names of your children, and requested limits at awolk@johnsburg12.org. You also may contact Mrs. Wolk by calling (815) 900-3024.

District Low Balance Policy

Much attention has been given to “Lunch Shaming” in the news lately, and as a result schools have been required to have a written and clearly communicated policy in place to address unpaid meal balances.

First and foremost, it is key to understand that we will not deny a child a meal, and we make every effort to make contact with our families before we resort to such extreme measures. However, we will not allow students with a negative balance to purchase al a carte items.

Applications for Free or Reduced Meal benefits are accepted throughout the year, as we understand your financial situation can change at any time. Applications can be completed electronically by accessing your FoodService account in SkyWard, and clicking ‘NEW APPLICATION’. The deadline to re-apply for the 2017-2018 school year was 10/3/2017.

We encourage our families to opt for auto-generated Low Balance notices via email that notify you when your balance is $20.00 or less.

In addition to the automatic low balance alerts, we send out emails when your account is -$5.00 to -$24.99, reminding you to make a deposit. Please remember, though, that no child will be denied a meal, only ala carte purchasing will be suspended. In March we will begin suspending al a carte purchases if the account owes $20.00, in April that threshold is $15.00, and in May it is reduced to $10.00 in an effort to avoid outstanding balances which carry over each year.

If you should have any questions or concerns regarding your Family Lunch Account balance, you may contact Mrs. Anna Wolk, FoodService Coordinator, at 815-900- 3024 or awolk@johnsburg12.org.
