Dear District 12 Families,
We hope you're enjoying your summer so far. As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we'd like to share an important schedule change that will affect all District 12 schools beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. Providing this information now allows families ample time to plan ahead and ensures a smooth transition into the new school year. Our goal is to provide clarity early so families can plan accordingly and feel confident heading into the new school year.
District-wide Late Start Schedule
As part of our strategic planning process completed in February, one key finding was the need to provide teachers and staff with more consistent time to work together, share strategies, and plan instruction that directly supports student growth. We recognize that time is one of our most valuable resources in education. When teachers have the opportunity to collaborate and reflect on student learning, it leads to stronger instruction and improved outcomes for students.
To support this goal, beginning the week of August 24th, every Wednesday will be a District-wide late start day. On these days, the school day will begin 60 minutes later than the regular start time (please see the schedule below). We are excited about the positive impact these changes will have on our schools and appreciate your partnership as we implement them.
We understand that schedule changes can impact family routines, and we are committed to providing options and clear communication to help support families during this transition. See attached our list of frequently asked questions below.
If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your respective school. We will also include more information on our District website.
Thank you for your continued support of Johnsburg CUSD 12.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jason Nault
Superintendent
