***Important Information Regarding Account Balances***
As we approach the end of the year, I’d like to remind you that you must have a positive balance in your Family Lunch Account in order to make any purchases. The price for a hot lunch tray is $2.50, so please multiply that by the number of days your child plans on purchasing meals to ensure there are sufficient funds in your account.
For your convenience, there are 3 ways you can deposit money:
1) The fastest way to enter money to your Family Account is to use the Family Access feature of the Johnsburg District 12 website. This is also where you can monitor purchases to your account as well. Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
2) Send it with your child to school. Be sure to enter your child’s full name in the memo line, as we have several families with the same last name and we want to be certain to credit the correct account. We remind you to allow 24 hours for your lunch payments to be posted when sending money to school with your child, as the funds are not posted to your account at the building level.
3) Either call the Directors’ Center at 8415.344.2803 with your credit card, or bring cash or check to Terry Peterson in the Director’s Center, located on the west side of Bush School. For the safety of our children on the playground, please do not drive around the building.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
There's been quite a bit of discussion in the news lately regarding the impact of school lunches on the childhood obesity rates. The entire Food Service team has been following this topic very closely, and while we agree there's always room for improvement, we are also confident that our program does an exemplary job ensuring your children are enjoying safe, nutritious and appealing meals.
In fact, the entire district exceeds the national average in terms of nutritional content, the amount of time the students receive for Physical Education and recess~thus resulting in a very low percentage of students considered 'obese'. We take the health of your children very seriously, and fully appreciate that our job isn't just 'filling the tray' but planning, purchasing, receiving, preparing, and serving each one of your children as if they were our very own. Thank you for that trust.
